We’re Shayne and Abby, two special care counselors from Quebec walking a mindful living journey of growth, healing, and connection. Together, we’ve discovered that caring for others begins with learning to care for ourselves — with compassion, presence, and honesty.
Our story isn’t one of perfection or certainty — it’s one of learning, falling, healing, and beginning again. Both of us have faced our share of loss and emotional storms, and those experiences became the foundation for the work we do and the life we continue to build.
For Shayne, this mindful living journey began at eighteen, after losing his father to pancreatic cancer. That loss cracked open a lifelong search for understanding through psychology, philosophy, mindfulness, and spirituality. Years later, when his mother passed from colon cancer, that path deepened even further. Out of grief grew curiosity: How do we keep our hearts open when life feels unbearable?
For Abby, the path was different but led to the same question. She grew up in a challenging family environment and lost her brother to undiagnosed mental illness at a young age. That pain inspired her to study human behavior, mental health, and trauma. Her compassion became her compass — and counseling became her way of bringing light into dark spaces.
When we met, our shared interest in self-help, spirituality, and the human mind instantly connected us. We began exploring together — reading, reflecting, and eventually traveling across Canada and the western United States in a small trailer. Those months of simplicity and vast landscapes helped us expand our awareness, reminding us how healing can come from both stillness and movement. It was during this time that our mindful living journey truly took root — one that continues to shape how we live, parent, and serve.
Today, we’ve rooted ourselves back in our hometown with our son and continue our journey as counselors, parents, and lifelong learners. Through The Path Within, we share stories, reflections, and tools that help others find balance between caring for the world and caring for themselves.
Our Purpose

Whether it’s a small pause between breaths or a major life transition, we hope to help people reconnect with their inner strength and wisdom.
